Titanium Ring FAQs
Q:
I have heard that titanium rings pose a safety hazard because they cannot be cut off in the event of an accident. Is this true?
No, this is an internet myth. Titanium is comparable in strength to stainless steel. Like gold, it can be removed with a simple ring cutting saw, which is carried by EMTs, and is stocked in ERs.
Q: Can titanium rings be resized?
The size of gold rings can often be adjusted by squeezing or stretching the metal. While this isn’t practical with titanium, they can sometimes be enlarged by boring out the center of the ring. In some cases, they can be made smaller by inserting a liner. It’s best to double check your size before ordering, though. If you can tell us the digital caliper of the internal diameter you want, we can make exactly the ring size you need.
Q:
Is titanium impervious to scratching?
No, all metals will scratch in daily wear. Our titanium rings do, however, come with a brushed finish which you can touch up at home with a sheet of silicon carbide sandpaper (#600). Need one? Just ask.
Q:
Can titanium rings be customized?
We can do limited customization. The designs we offer showcase fairly well the types of features we can customize, so further customization is pretty much limited to mixing those design options.
